Breeders Award Program (BAP)
About the program
This is one of the Federations most active programs with over 30,000 reported spawns representing more than 1,000 different species.
The FAAS BAP is intended to compliment and support the member societys local BAP. Its aim is to provide services where local BAP cannot and to provide recognition at the Federation level. This program does not dictate local policies but rather supplements them. It depends on the trust of its member societies to acknowledge the authenticity of its own breeding activity through its own local BAP and policies. Some of its objectives are:
- To encourage breeding and propagation of difficult to breed and rare or hard to find species as well as the propagation of fishes in general. As an incentive, awards are given in recognition of outstanding achievement to both individuals and aquarium societies.
- To act as a central point for making information available about the breeding of specific species.
- To help establish new local BAP programs, revitalize existing programs, and provide support whenever possible.
